Man, goose form odd-couple friendship

I think this story was really cool. It was about a man who has a goose at a park near downtown Los Angeles and the goose follows him around. The goose named Maria even tries to fly home with him when he leaves the park. This story was really interesting to hear and I thought it was so cute!

I thought the youtube video was ok. I didn't understand why we watched it really though. The stories were kinda boring.

A-Roll “In lacrosse, people aren't afraid to hit hard. It's not like football where you get to rest after every play. You have to keep going without breaks or subs. You always have to be ready to catch a ball to take a hard hit.”      Attack Mitch Beattie says this is the reason lacrosse is different than all other sports. Lacrosse at Eastview has always been successful, but this year they have high goals set for themselves. Sophomore captain Ryan McNamara explains the goals. “We'd really like to make it to state. We did it a few years ago and we'd like to do it again. It’ll take a lot of hard work and commitment, but we’re up for the challenge.”      This year is a little different than previous years for the Eastview lacrosse team. They only have two players that started last year returning this year to varsity. They also have one sophomore captain, and three captains that are juniors. With all the young athletes playing on  varsity this year, they have been working hard to be ready this Spring and stay in shape in the off season. Defenseman Ben Wunderlich talks about the off season training. “We have lifting programs and we also have a team in the summer called the Grizzlies where we go to places like Virginia and play in tournaments there.” Come out and support the young talent on the lacrosse team this Spring. There was a leak of one of the songs from Britney Spears' new album. The song is called "Inside Out" and it sounds like it's a breakup song but she doesn't really want to break up with him just yet. I can't wait to hear the song! I heard a snippet of it and I liked it.

"East Coast Rapist" suspect Aaron Thomas asked what took so long, says prosecutor

I read an article about a man who is believed to be responsible for rapes and other attacks on 17 women since 1997, according to police. In the Connecticut case, police say in 2007 the rapist went through an open window at an apartment complex and sexually assaulted a 27-year-old woman while her 11-month-old son was in the room. I think that's absolutely terrible and disgusting. He asked the police what took them so long to pick him up, what a jerk. His bail is set at 1.5 million, so he isn't getting out of jail anytime soon!

Highschool Basketball Star Dies on Court

This story is about a 16 year old boy who made the winning shot in his teams basketball game. Then they hoisted him up on their shoulders and when they put him down, he collapsed and died from heat exhaustion. This is really sad and I'm sure his entire family, friends, and teammates are devastated. I feel bad for everyone that was close to him :(

1. How is playing defense different than all the other positions?
When you play defense you have a 6 foot long pole that you use for hitting people instead of carrying the ball and passing it. And you have to work together to stop the opposing offense from scoring.
2. What do you enjoy most about lacrosse?
I like to win and win as a team. I like how fast paced it is. 
3. What do you do out of season to stay in shape?
We have lifting programs and we also have a team in the summer called the Grizzlies where we go to places like Virginia and Maine and play in tournaments there.
Ryan McNamara:
1. What are your responsibilities as captain?
To lead the team to victory. I also have to make sure everyone is working as hard as possible and living up to their potential. I also have to lead captains practices.
2. What's the difference between girls and boys lacrosse?
Girls lacrosse is a lot less contact. They're not allowed to slash and boys lacrosse we are. Other than rules like those its pretty much the same.
3. What are your goals for the team in the upcoming season?
We'd really like to make it to state. We did it a few years ago and we'd like to do it again.
Mitch Beattie:
1. Why do you like lacrosse so much?
Its a fun because its a high contact sport and its a lot like hockey which is another one of my favorite sports.
2. What are your goals for the upcoming lacrosse season?
My goals are to make varsity. I was on jv last year but I've been working very hard and I think I'll make varsity this year.
3. What do you think is the hardest position to play?
Attack because you always have to be ready to catch a pass, but middie is also hard because you have to run more than both of the other positions combined.

The Interview

I learned how to prepare quickly for an effective interview. I also learned how to recognize the difference between green light and red light questions that can keep an interview moving along or stall it in its tracks. I learned the power of listening and avoid the pitfalls of "off the record."

The interviewer is like a chess player, he says, never moving a piece or

asking a question without a greater purpose. Also, every story idea generates its own set of interviewing possibilities.

Snooki: 'Jersey Shore' is 'like prison with cameras'

Snooki had an interview with rolling stone and said that jersey shore was like a prison with cameras. She said they aren't allowed to have any cell phones, tvs, radios or the internet. She also said that she hates the way she's portrayed on the show. I think that's stupid because they can't put stuff in that didn't actually happen, so obviously some of it's true.

Julian Assange attacks 'rubber-stamp' warrant as he loses extradition battle

I read an article saying that Julian Assange is to be extradited to Sweden to face allegations of rape and sexual assault. Assange will appeal, his legal team has confirmed. If they lose he will be sent to Sweden in 10 days. I forgot that he was in legal trouble for rape and not the WikiLeaks thing.

Fired Over Facebook: 13 Posts That Got People CANNED

Which court standard did someone follow or break in your article?
Most of it was freedom of speech. People got fired for writing things on their facebook that their employers said was inappropriate, but I'm sure the people thought they shouldn't be able to be fired for it because it's their private lives.

Do you agree with the decisions in your article?
I agree with most of them. Some of the things people said made the company they worked for look bad and probably embarrassed them.

What do you feel should have been done in this instance?
I think that most of them should've gotten fired for it. One teacher got fired just for having pictures drinking wine and beer. I think that's stupid because those are both legal and as long as she wasn't completely wasted or taking pictures doing stupid stuff then I don't think she should've gotten fired for it.

What do you feel will be the future of rights in today's digital age?
I think that people will always be able to say what they want on the internet but people will still get in trouble with their jobs and school if they put bad things on the internet.

Most of your rights are taking. You still have the right of religion, but speech, assembly, petition and press i guess are taken away.

This politician from Wisconsin doesn't want unions and he's spending a lot of money. The people are protesting. I couldn't follow what the point of it was, and I kept daydreaming while I was reading it. I'm still trying to figure it out. A lot of the Wisconsin people are upset with their governer.

I read an article about a deer smashing through someones window. I would probably have a panic attack if a huge deer started running around my little apartment bedroom. But I laughed when I read the article.

I read an article about how Kid Rock did a show and a lot of fans were upset because it was so snowy and a lot of people couldn't make the drive. I think that he had a right to go along with the show because for the people that were able to make it, they deserved to see the show. Kid Rock said he will pay for everyone who didn't get to see the show out of his own pocket.

Lindsay Lohan formally charged with grand theft

In the article I read it talked about Lindsay Lohan's case that she just got tried for. She apparently stole a $2,500 necklace. I don't understand why she would steal it because she obviously has enough money for a $2,500 necklace. I think she needs to learn a lesson from this, because she's facing a maximum 3 years in prison. She's also setting a bad example for her younger sister, Ali, and I think that she's going to end up exactly like Lindsay.

I thought that there was way too many car commercials this year and most of the commercials weren't all that funny. Miley Cyrus gets tattoo No. 5

I read an article about Miley Cyrus' 5th tattoo. It said that it's on her torso and it's a picture of the dream catcher that hangs over her bed with four feathers to represent her four brothers and sisters. I was suprised because I didn't know she had any tattoos at all. The article also talked about how she also has a heart and a small cross on her fingers, the word 'love" on her ear and the phrase "just breathe" on her rib cage in honor of a close friend who died of cystic fibrosis. I think that it's good that she's getting tattoos that at least have meaning and aren't just for looks. If I ever got a tattoo, I'd want it to be for something that means a lot to me.

11 Reasons Why Packers Will Win

I read an article that said the Packers are going to win the Superbowl and I reeeeeeeeeeeeally hope they don't. I'm not asboslutely in love with the Steelers (I haven't really even paid attention to them this season) but I DON'T want the Packers to win. Cause I like the Vikings. And I really wanted to see the Bears go to the Superbowl this year, but the Packers messed that up. So really I'm not rooting for the Steelers, I'm just rooting against the Packers.
